Ashwaq Masoodi is a Fellow at the Harvard University’s Nieman Foundation for Journalism. Prior to this, she worked as a long-form writer for almost a decade, covering the lives of the marginalized and subaltern groups across India. Ashwaq, has extensively reported on caste, sexuality, identity, and gender, from 22 Indian states, received the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism award, for Uncovering India Invisible in 2016. Before this, she received The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) award for excellence in reporting on women’s issues, for her series on human trafficking. Till 2019, she worked for the Mint newspaper and is an alumna of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
