Dr. Farah Usmani has 25 years of experience in policy and programming leadership focusing on women and girls at global, regional, and national levels. She has worked with the public sector, bilateral donors, and has been with the United Nations for eighteen years. She holds a Master’s degree in Health Policy, Planning and Financing, and an MD in Obstetrics/Gynecology. Dr. Usmani has received several awards, as well as, the British Council and the Joint-Japan World Bank Merit Fellowships. She has traveled and supported work missions in over 50 countries. Dr. Usmani is the first woman from Uttar Pradesh, and also the first Muslim woman from India, to work with the United Nations International Civil Service at Director level in New York, where she is currently based. Dr, Usmani is passionate about the empowerment of women, including their reproductive health and rights. She is deeply committed to contributing to her home state in India which is reflected in her many pro-bono activities for women and girls in Uttar Pradesh.
